The Fennoscandia region consists of the Scandinavian Peninsula, Finland, the Kola Peninsula, and Karelia. When you look at history going back to the most recent Ice Age ended and when the vast glaciers melted some 10,000 BC the melted ice water runoff formed the Baltic Ice Lake. It encompasses Finland, Norway and Sweden, as well as Murmansk Oblast, much of the Republic of Karelia, and parts of northern Leningrad Oblast in Russia. Its name comes from the Latin words Fennia (Finland) and Scandia (Scandinavian). The term was first used by the Finnish geologist Wilhelm Ramsay in 1898. From what we can see with some calculators, as Eurogenes, there are two main components in Scandinavian Fennoscandian and North Sea.
